Little Miss No Name by Hasbro

The story behind this doll is connected to Barbie.  Hasbro decided to put out a doll to compete with Barbie.  This was their answer.  The artist who designed her decided to make her look like a poor little orphan wearing a burlap sack for a dress and holding her hand palm up as if begging for change.  The idea was to teach kids to be compassionate towards those less fortunate.  The idea didn't take.  Barbie is still popular doll but Little Miss No Name only set on toy store shelves for a few years.

Brand new out of the box the doll came with a plastic tear that could be removed, a burlap dress with patches, and a note to the child that read:  "I need someone to love me. I want to learn to play. Please take me home with you and brush my tear away." Not only was the advertisement meant to get children's sympathy, but they made her full name "Little Miss No Name: the Doll with the Tear."

This doll was recently found wrapped up by my dad stored in his attic.  She has no tear anymore or a note, and her dress doesn't have patches.  My grandmother might have made her the dress but I don't know.  This didn't seem likely to me so I tried to find another doll in burlap with no patches but I couldn't find any.  Otherwise she is clean, no marks.  Accessorizing her to her original state would require some restoration.  The price reflects these details.
